Peninsula Pet Clinic Pre-Med Summer Scholars Program

The Peninsula Pet Clinic Pre-Med Summer Scholar Program is beginning in the Summer 2017! This exciting, fee-based program is open to high school students age 16-18 who will be enrolled in high school in the Fall of 2018.

The Pre-Med Summer Scholar Program is an intense, one-week educational program incorporating guest speakers, hospital-related tours and veterinary medicine information along with an additional 48 hour volunteer program (twelve four-hour shifts) giving the Pre-Med Summer Scholar an involved sense of working within the field of veterinary medicine. Activities and curriculum includes:

● Immunology-Understanding Animal Vaccines
● Pharmacology-Understanding Important Animal Medications and Prescription Abbreviations
● Ultrasound, Laboratory, Dentistry, and Hospitalization of Animals
● Surgery-Possible viewing of surgical procedures, depending on the caseload
● Animal Care-Walking, Cleaning, and Caring for Animals
● Lucky Dog Fundraising Projects-Helping raise money for the underserved animals in our community and helping organize projects to raise money for this important not-for-profit fund.
● Photography/Marketing/Promotional Projects-Using Summer Scholar’s creativity to promote animal wellness and awareness
